About Us

Great teaching involves hundreds of small decisions. What do students need to understand? Where might they get stuck? What would their answers tell us? And what should happen next?

Teachers' Studio is a hobby project shaped by practical experience in teaching, learning and professional development. It was created to help teachers manage the mental load of planning responsive lessons, especially when anticipating misconceptions and deciding how to act on students' answers.

The thinking behind it has been informed by the work of the Education Endowment Foundation, Carl Hendrick and Dylan Wiliam, particularly their work on checking for understanding and using evidence of learning to guide teaching.

The tools offer a space to work through key knowledge, design useful checks for understanding and consider possible next steps. Use the suggestions as a starting point, then adapt them to your curriculum and your students.

The aim is simple: make the thinking behind responsive teaching a little easier to manage so teachers can focus on the decisions that matter in the classroom.
